The Ceylon Almanac 1858 lists J.Lyford as a resident of Pusselawa, which was the a coffee growing district. Fergusons's Ceylon directory of 1871/72 lists W.A. Lyford as a planter on Poondhooloya North, then a coffeee estate owned by Captain Reddie and P.D. Millie. Ferguson's Ceylon Directory of 1898/99 has W.A. Lyford as a tea planter on Pallegoda Estate Bentota. This estate was later totally replanted in rubber. Ferguson in 1953 has a J.H.Lyford as an Assistant in Bosanquet & Skrine, an Estate Produce company. I hope you find this information useful.
