My grandfather was a German born 18th of September 1877 in Frankfurt aMain, Germany named Martin Viktor Goldschmidt. His vater was named Reinhold and his mutter was named Franziska. He taught briefly at the University Zurich from 1906 to 1908. He married Martha Hanselmann in Zurich sometime in 1911 to 1912. They had two sons born out of wedlock. The first son was named Erich Viktor (or Victor), born on 29th of March 1907. the second son was named Reinhold and was born sometime in 1911 or 1912 just before the start of the first World War. Both children were acknowledged by their father sometime in 1912. Not long after Reinholds birth the boys were bought to live in Stuttgart, Gm at the home of Fritz and Elise Friess, 124 Mohrengenstrasse. The Friess' acted as foster parents for the boys during the war years. Fritz was a German soldiered who served during the war. After the war, neither Victor nor Martha returned for the boys. At age 17, the elder son, Erich Victor, made his way to Kiel Germany and was a cook on a Rum Running vessel the Sagatind (Norwegian Steamer). On a trip to New York (USA) the ship was boarded by the US Coast Guard on October 12, 1924 and the crew arrested and brought onshore into New York,z USA for processing. During this processing, Erich Victor Goldschmidt slipped away and started a new life in America, under the assumed alias of "James Victor Berger". This man was my father. He died in April of the year 1966 in New Orleans, Louisiana. All together her fathered five children. the eldest was a girl, Rita Victoria. Next he had four sons Eric, Richard, Frederick and Timothy (me, the youngest at 62 hrs of age having been born in 1949). My mother's name was Florence Smith Berger, she was born in Louisiana in 1924 and was 16 years younger than my father. My mother died in August, 1996 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
My Uncle Reinhold is probably deceased. I believe that he stayed in Germany near Stuttgart and that he may have been a trainer in an early German Soccer league for team TSG Ulm sometime in the 1950's.
I am hoping to locate my German relatives who are decendents of my Grandfather or decendents of his son, my uncle Reinhold Goldschmidt.
