Yu Rongling, General Dan P'ao-ch'ao, Princess Der Ling
I am seeking any information on the family of Yu Rongling, wife of General Dan P'ao-ch'ao and sister of the writer Princess Der Ling (Mrs. Thaddeus C. White).Rongling, who died in China in 1973, was responsible for bringing western dance to China. With her sister, she served as lady in waiting and translator to the Empress Dowager Cixi, between 1903-1905; both sisters left memoirs of their time at the Manchu court. They were the daughters of Yü-kêng, successively minister to Japan and France.
Princess Der Ling left no descendants, so I am very much hoping to make contact with any descendants of Mme Dan's who may be living in China, Taiwan or elsewhere.
With thanks in advance -
