Xanthopoulos, Antonios. Smyrna Turkey to US in 1917
Anthony "Tony" Xanthis (Xanthis) also known as Antonios Xanthopoulos. Born abt 1892 in Smyrna (now Izmir, Turkey) He Died: April 2, 1942
Buried: April 6, 1942 at Forestlawn Cemetery, Detroit, MI
His address was 1598 Defer Place, Detroit, MI. He had been in the US abt 25 years so this would have put him coming to the US in abt 1917.
Was born in Smyrna, Asia Minor (now called Izmir, Turkey). Was 48 at time of death and was married, but
no information or name of spouse at the time, but my grandmother was married to him and divorced a few years before. Her name was Francis Rupp Xanthis.
His name in the records at Annunciation Cathedral in Detroit, at the time of death was Antonios Xanthopoulos, But the spelling on the 1930 census was Tony Xanthus.
Annunciation Cathedral is located near his home in Detroit. Any other information on this family would be greatly appreciated. I know nothing about any parents or siblings.
Thank you.
Sylvia Xanthis Hathaway
