COOPER, SMALLPIECE, 1851 Westminster, London

By Dorothy Drake March 25, 2014 at 08:38:58

Researching James Cooper and Rebecca Smallpiece who married at St. Giles Cripplegate, London, 1 Feb 1846.Jasmes was listed as a letter carrier on that record, born in Ipswich, Suffolk about 1812, the son of Benjamin Cooper. In the 1851 census they were living at 6 Ponsonby Place, near the huge Millbank prison in Westminster, London and had a one year old daughter named Emily Jane.James was still a letter carrier.

James and Rebecca left for Brooklyn, New York sometime after 1851 and before 1862 when they had a daughter Jennie in NY.

I want to find James' birth or christening record in Ipswich, the name of his mother and her marriage to his father Benjamin.

Thanks for any help.
