Re: surname on baptismal record in Latin
Are you sure the name is in Latin?

In all the church documentation I've seen (OK, I've only seen 10 documents - all for Eastern Galicia!) all (except one) had the surnames written in Polish. The exception was written in Ukrainian.
The given names were "Latinized".
What makes me ask the question is your post referring to a letter as a "T". If this were in Polish that could well be an "L" with a stroke through it. I'm told this sounds like a hard "L".
I'm also told that the "Ch" sound in Polish is like "Kh" in English so we would have "Khalus".
Does this sound like a Polish or Ukrainian surname?
