According to my grandmother's death certificate, pictures, other supporting documents, and family stories, my great grandfather (Yurko Panischak, who later changed his name to George Panisco) was one of the three original pioneers who set out from Neblyliv in 1891 with Ivan Pylpiw (his brother-in-law and my great, great uncle; Yurko's wife was Anna Pylpiw). Unfortunately, Yurko was turned back in Hamburg because he didn't have enough money to travel. He soon aquired the sum needed and was in Winnipeg by 1891-92.
I was also told that Yurko was a good carpenter and built the first (or maybe, one of the first churches in that area).
I have tried to learn more about my grandmother's side of the family, but have not had much success. I would love to know about both sides of her family, and I would especially loved to see a picture of my ggrandfather's church.
Yurko (George) and Annie had 7 children: Dora, Mary, Mildren, Minnie, Michey, Nicholas, Johan.
I'd be grateful for any information you can share. Thanks!
