I am looking for any information on my father David Payton who was stationed at the Plattsburgh Airforce Base, New York back in the early 1960's.
He met my mother, Thelma Smith, from Montreal, Quebec, Canada in the early sixties which resulted in my birth on October 19th, 1962. He married my mother on July 16th, 1963 in Reno, Nevada. I have their marriage license.
David is African American possibly born in Texas but resided in San Francisco. I think his birthdate is April, 1939 or possibly 1940 or 41. He served in the Plattsburgh Airforce Base but was then transferred to Alaska. My mother, Thelma was from Montreal and was white. She died on Feb. 21st, 1990 of cancer.
David's parents were Leonard Payton and Gladys Gilder. All I know is when my mom was pregnant with me, Gladys (David's mother) was also pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy (I think). So I may have an uncle who is almost the exact same age as me.
I currently reside in Toronto, Canada and am looking for any information on my father. I have never had the pleasure of meeting him and all I have is one picture of him. I have an 18 year old daughter named Krystle.
My father apparently was a wonderful singer and would perform at a spot called "House on the Side of the Road" in Plattsburgh, New York on weekends. One of his favorite songs was "Duke of Earl".
