My father worked for the Fairbanks Exploration Department of the U.S. Smelting Refining and Mining Company in Alaska and took several photos while living there. He was born in 1892 in KY and I don't know the exact dates of his residence in Alaska but his social security card app was dated 1937 while working there in Fairbanks and he was still there in 1943 when his mother died. Several of these photos have other workers in them and might be of interest to their families. I would be interested in knowing about them...so I posted them on my family site under our Mystery photo's collection.
the above link is one photo which was taken in front of a miner's cabin. 4 men, two of them on the right belong to my family, the other two are strangers. I will add links to this Query as I add photos otherwise you will have to use your web browser and search Alaska to find which photos pertain to Alaska once you get to my site. I do not have my site organized very well! The Alaska mysteries are mixed in with my other family mysteries. Sorry.
Hope someone recognizes the photos. I would love to hear from you if you do.
The only names I have... is of one friend ( Sam Burger ) in Cripple Creek. Other locations are Davison Ditch, Juneau, a dredge in Fairbanks, on the Chena, there is a couple of group photos, and several individuals, My father's name was Joseph Coleman Reynolds Jr. and he had a brother and a son both named Jim who also visited Alaska. He was a mining engineer, mined for gold and also some photos where they found some mammoth tusks.
