I found the obituary of Jesse's mother, Anna 'Ann' Hefner, B:1832 in Huston, PA, D: 1911, Saxton, PA. Married a Mr. McGee,bef 1870, had 3 children,Sarah E.McGee, David B McGee, and Ida B McGee. Mr. McGee was not with her in the 1870 Bedford census, may have been deceased by 1880, because Anna had a brief marriage to a Levi Butler Putt, 1880 census. She went back to McGee by 1900. Jesse was mentioned in her obit. Jesse was born 1855. He was not with her in the 1860 census, she was still living at home with her parents.Where was he? He was with her in the 1870 census. He was married in 1880,and living in Colorado, where he remained most of his life. He did go to Burrows Bay, Alaska in 1889, and Helena, Montana in 1890.I have a lot of census, and directory records for him before 1910. I cannot find anymore information for him after 1910. Colorado does not have a death certificate for him. He is not buried with his wife, who died in 1934. She was listed a widow in 1920 census. His daughter died in 1926, and he was not mentioned as a survivor. I wrote to the Church Of God, where Anna was a member since she was 17 years old, but never got a reply. His aunt, Anna's sister, was Elizabeth Hefner Gates. We got her name from a prayer book left to my cousin's grandmother. I don't know who his birth father was, or if there were siblings on that side. His brother David McGee named his son Charles Jesse, after him. James H Kay, could be a brother on his father's side, but since I don't have a birth father, I couldn't be sure. Dates and occupation add up though. Any help would be appreciated. There has to be a story out there.
