There are several caves in what is now Calhoun County. Two of historical value are weaver cave which was mined for Salt peter during the civil war. It is located off Hwy 21 as you go toward Weaver. I do know that in the last 20 years it has been barricaded and entry is no longer allowed since the late owner's death (Ed Hinton). The other is in the White Plains area toward Rabbittown, called Lady's Cave and is associated with mini ball finds and also rich in arrowhead finds. My late husband's relatives lived in the area for many generations and he explored the caves on many occasions. I believe thefamily lived in the area was Hyatt. My grandfather was Chief of Police in nearby Jacksonville and investigated a murder involving the Hyatt family. There are smaller caves in the same area but Lady's cave is supposedly the larger of the group. Hope that helps.
