Sorry about the delay in my response, William. I failed to pay attention to the email notice of your response.
I really appreciate your info with regard to Alice Wittel.
With regard to Clark Veazie Britton: he and Eleanor Musgrove were divorced some time between Apr, 1940, when they were enumerated in the census for Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, and Feb, 1941. Florida Marriages, familysearch.org, has Eleanor Musgrove Britton, divorced, married Feb 20, 1941, to Ward A McCroskey in Putnam, FL.
Clark was born 1902 in Pennsylvania to Nicholas Edwin Britton and Shirley Clarke Veazie (thus my interest). His father was enumerated as "Nicholas" and "Edwin" and various combinations and initials. Clark was a graduate of VMI and a civil engineer by trade, working variously over the years for Air Reduction Sales and American Bridge Co. He had two sons, Clark Veazie Britton, Jr., and Richard Britton, both with his first wife Eleanor Musgrove. He was active in the Army Reserve. There are several newspaper references to "Major and Mrs Britton" of Mobile, Alabama.
Son Clark V Britton Jr also attended VMI and was a professor of graphics design at Witchita KS State Univ. A bit of googling results in lots of references to Clark V Britton, primarily the son.
