I don't think I need the obit thanks Phyl. I have an account of the Alabama register newspaper report of 29 Nov 1887 and a FRAMED cutting about his death, in gothic German, which I'll get translated some time. As it is framed very well I cannot scan it. Julius is buried somewhere in New Orleans - in a family grave of some kind, indicating that they either had a child who died in infancy or it is a McLean grave. I don't know of any other Buttner relatives in the US - it's quite a common German name.
It's lucky I checked this site as I don't get email alerts to tell me in somenone had replied. You would have thought me very rude if I hadn't done this!
I have now also found the lineage with Edie Sedgwick so she's in my tree.
