My earliest known ancestor was Pleasant Preston Elliott, Sr., born ~1832 somewhere in Alabama. We know that he had at least 3 brothers, Alex, Andrew and Dan.A sister, Lucinda, accompanied Pleasant when he settled in Gallatin County, Illinois, in about 1850.
A genetic match through Family Tree DNA led me to a gentleman whose earliest known Elliott ancestor, "Gus", born in the British Isles, settled in northern Alabama & had children in Blount & Madison Counties.Focusing on 1830 & 1840 census records for those counties led me to Hezekiah, four of whose listed but unnamed children had birth years & genders matching up to Pleasant & his known siblings.Hezekiah was gone from Blount County by the 1850 census, but I also discovered, tantalizingly, an Alex Elliott in the 1850 Madison County census who was of the right age to have been Pleasant's brother.
Unfortunately, looks like Hezekiah & Polly are not (my) Pleasant's parents based on your information, so the search continues.Hezekiah may still be a relative, as one of his sons by Minerva was named Pleasant, which would seem an odd coincidence, and our oral family legend has our ancestors first settling in the Carolinas, Hezekiah's birthplace.
I'm very grateful you took the time to post this information.
I also found a copy of the land grant of ~40 acres in Blount County to Hezekiah signed by Pres. Andrew Jackson; probably accounts for his naming one of his children Andrew Jackson. If you'd like a copy, I'd be pleased to send it to you.
