Seeking additional information on Willis D. HOLT and family. He was born about 1815 in TN, a son of William C. HOLT and Margaret ?.
He married Nancy MUSGROVE abt. 1842 in Blount Co., AL.She was born 06 Feb 1819, Edgefield Dist., SC, a daughter of John Tate MUSGROVE and Penelope McCARTY, who were on the 1820 census in Edfield District, SC, and left shortly after to join his parents and siblings in Blount Co., AL.She was a granddaughter of William T. MUSGROVE and Nancy TATE, originally from Newberry Co., SC, of the old 96th District, where they were on the 1790 US Census, then lived in Georgia, back to SC, and then to Old Newport, Cocke Co., TN, back to SC where they lived in the Saluda area, once a part of the Edgefield District. William's family came to Blount Co., AL, then he and some of the children moved to Walker Co., AL.Others remained in Blount Co., AL.
In turn, William T. MUSGROVE was the son of John MUSGROVE, Jr. of Fairfax Co., VA, prior to moving the the 96th District of SC.John married while living in SC to Aaminta GORDON.Those maiden names were reflected in the names of the children of Willis D. HOLT and Nancy MUSGROVE - thus confirming the old Musgrove family history that Nancy married Willis D. HOLT.All of this is to correct erroneous information published on line that Willis married a Nancy MURPHREE.
