Thomas, I am researching my great-grandfather, Erastus Lynch Black (b. GA 1833). He moved with his family sometime before 1840 to Tallapoosa Co. AL (E.L. enumerated in 1850 AL census, his family enumerated in 1860). In 1859 E. L. moved to Phillips Co. AR followed by his parents. I have a great deal of info on this family but was just trying to fill in some little holes such as the military school. E. L. enlisted as a Capt. in 23rd Ark (1862), promoted to Major same year, captured at Port Hudson, LA, POW @ Johnson Island for about 8 months, rejoined unit and fought until the end of the war. Possibly promoted to Lt. Colonel but can't absolutely document that as fact. That is a very brief sketch. Thanks again for the info.
