Elizabeth C. Gray enumerated in the 1850 Chambers Co., AL census was the second wife and widow of James Riley Gray (1788-1829) of Pike Co., GA, the s/o James Gray and Mary Riley.
James Riley Gray mar.(1) 1812, Baldwin Co., GA to Susanna Cody (1795-1816) and (2) on 13 Dec. 1826, Putnam Co., GA to Elizabeth Carr Whitaker (1797-1859) d/o Samuel Taylor Whitaker and Mary Elizabeth Williams?.
Widow Elizabeth C. Gray and her brother-in-law Seaborn B. Gray--my ancestor--were the administrators of her husband's estate.
Some researchers have erroneously identified Elizabeth C. Gray as a wife of Seaborn B. Gray; however, she was definitely NOT his wife but his sister-in-law.
