From the "Southern Reporter", vol. 1, p. 127-128, I found the following court case which might be of genealogical interest to someone. Baker v. State, 1887, appeal from the Circuit Court of Chilton co. AL on indictment of murder.
The court documents state that Solomon LORE had whipped a younger brother of John BAKER. Baker and Lore exchanged gunfire and then Frank BAKER shot Lore with a double-barreled shotgun and killed him. A trial was held September 30 1880 in which John BAKER was acquitted and Frank BAKER was sentenced to be imprisoned for life.
