Thomas Ray "Tom" Roberts, a foreman at a plywood mill, died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 60. Roberts, a native of Clarke County and a resident of Grove Hill, was a member of Bassett Creek Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of deacons. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Roberts of Grove Hill; his mother, Gladie Roberts of Grove Hill; a daughter, Tammy Salter of Grove Hill; a son, Scott Roberts of Mobile; six brothers, Wayne Roberts of Fulton, Ala., Johnny Roberts of Thomasville., Don Roberts of Scyrene, Ala., Ken Roberts of Atlanta, Bruce Roberts of Thomasville, and Randall Roberts of Grove Hill; two sisters, Faye Adams of Brewton and Peggy Roberts of Grove Hill; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bassett Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bassett Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville is in charge of arrangements.
