Maggie Eugenia Cravey Deas, 93, died May 2, 2005 at a local health care facility. Funeral services will be in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5 (today) at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Robin Sanders officiating. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Coffeeville Cemetery.
Mrs. Deas was a native of the Winn community and a lifelong resident of Clarke County before moving to Prattville. She taught elementary school at Coffeeville High School for nine years. She operated Deas Grocery in the Union Chapel community for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Mathias Deas; daughter, Molly Rebecca Deas Andrews; her parents, John Israel Cravey and Clara Eugenia Leonard Cravey; five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Kenneth Deas (Virginia) of Prattville; daughter, Mary Susan Deas Greenman (Chris) of Montgomery; three sisters, Minnie Alice Cravey Beverly of Thomasville, Della Mae Cravey McGowin of Monroeville and Eunice Eloise Cravey Finley of Mobile; brother, William Cue Cravey of Jackson; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
