BAKER - STUDDARD Family from Fayette and Walker Counties, Alabama, to Arkansas, then Sebastian Co.,Nevada, and finally to LeFlore Co., Oklahoma.Dorothy Louisa STUDDARD, "Eliza", was the oldest daughter of Samuel J. SUDDARD and Mary J. STOVALL, on the 1880 US Census in Fayette Co., AL. as Dorothy L. SUDDARD.She was shown as Louisa E. Baker on the 1920 Census in LeFlore Co., OK.She was a granddaughter of James STUDDARD and Elizabeth HENDON and James Francis STOVALL and Louisa P. PALMER of Fayette Co., AL.She married about 1893, Fayette Co., AL, to Samuel L. BAKER.He was born 1871, Walker Co., AL, and was on the 1880 US Census in that county as a son of Joel BAKER (b. 1834, AL) and Caroline J. ___?.His mother, Caroline BAKER was a widow on the 1900 US Census, North River, Fayette Co., AL; but, Samuel and Eliza STUDDARD BAKER were on he 1900 census in Walker Co., AL (shown as Carbon Hill (Part 1)).Shortly after 1900 census, Samuel L., brothers, James C., and John Wesley BAKER and familes, moved to Arkansas where some of their children were born. Before 1910, Samuel and brother, James C. BAKER moved to Hartford, Sebastion Co., Nevada, which again showed Dorothy Louisa as Eliza.Samuel's younger brother, John Wesley BAKER, who had marred in Arkansas, moved to LeFlore Co., OK.By 1920 US Census, all three brothers were living in LeFlore Co., OK.Samuel L. and John Wesley BAKER were bured in the Fair Hill Cemeery and James C. and wife in the Covington Cemetery.Unfortunately Dorothy Louisa STUDDARD's name was erroneously shown as "Elzabeth" BAKER on the shared tombstone, a fairly new marker.Apparently someone did not realize that "Eliza" was a nickname for "Louisa" rather than "Elizabeth".Both Samuel L. BAKER and Dorothy Louisa "Eliza" STUDDARD were shown to have died in 1946.Seeking more detailed information on this couple and their children. Will greatly appreciate and will exchange information.
