I believe William was born in Slocomb, with sibling Eugene.SS Index shows Eugene died in Slocomb in 1993. Unusual story........ several headstones turned up in Auburndale, Fl about six months ago and the police don't know where they came from etc.I wondered if a genealogist had ever tried so..... the headstone reads William P. Morris Alabama Pvt US Army ?? 31 1927Sept 18 1965
the question mark comes because I couldn't make it out on the tv screen. Both William and Eugene served in WW11.William enlisting in 1945 and Eugene enlisting in 1943.Neither shows up on as buried in a national cemetery. Am wondering if the stone of William P. Morris could have come from your countyorpossibly if there are Morris relatives still in the county if they would know where William was buried. The stone showed up in Auburndale, Fl which is in Polk County. The Polk county sheriff's dept would like to locate family and return the stone. If I can clarify this unusual note please let me know.
