There is a Geneva Co marriage record for James F Powell and Nancy Crews, 03/05/1916, Bk 9, pg 78, according to Warrine Hathaway's compilation.Rebecca Newsom Dobson, in her book Woe and Giddiup, the Story of the Peerless Powells of Possum Trot, Alabama, gives her name as Nancy Caroline Crews. In her book Possums Run Over Their Graves, rev. ed. 1995, pg 276-277, she says that Nancy's parents are James Madison Crews and Rebecca Ann Powell, dau of Daniel Franklin Powell and Nancy Caroline Cost.
I believe that James F Powell was son of William Powell of Dale County, and belongs to the Benjamin-Ferdinan-Almarine-Fernie Powell family.See Worldconnect for more on this family.I have never found a connection between that family and the Daniel Franklin Powell family.
