My maternal grandfather was Lemuel M. Walden. He was raised by his uncle, who our family has always referred to as "Uncle Pink" Walden."Uncle Pink" helped my Granddaddy move from the Eufaula, AL area to the Rehobeth Community, some five miles south of Dothan in Houston County, AL, where he became a prominent farmer, and also owned a sawmill, a small rural grocery store, and a blacksmith shop. However, "Uncle Pink" settled in Headland, AL in Henry County. His descendents are believed to have been the Waldens who own/owned the Ford automobile and tractor dealerships in that town.It is these people I am trying to reach.I am doing this in an effort to learn the name of my grandfather's father. My great-grandfather Walden died in the War Between the States and Lem's mother remarried. The new husband did not want any children from the first marriage living with him, so "Uncle Pink" took Lem in.I believe that Lem's father was either a brother of or a nephew to "Uncle Pink".In any case, Lem was so bitter over all this that he took the identities of his parents to the grave with him.We, his descendents, cannot do the family tree any further back than him. This is very frustrating!
Any help would be deeply appreciated!!I may be reached in any of the following ways: Rev. Larry F. Pullum 3638 CR 203 Rehobeth, Al.36301-7726
