I'm searching for information about Richard W. DAVIS and his wife Mary Ann BURDESHAW (also spelled Burteishan, Birdeshaw, and Birdshaw). Both born 1831 in Georgia; married 9 Dec. 1849 in Randolph County, GA.Listed on 1850 Census, Randolph County, 7th Dist. p. 389.Moved to Henry County, Alabama, where they are listed on the 1860 Census, Kirkland Beat #4, p. 190, with five children.Around 1875 moved to White County, Ark.Listed there for 1880 Census, Kentucky Township, E.D. 292, p. 193, and 1900 Census, E.D. 140, p. 47.Buried in Old Hopewell Cemetery.Richard W. was a circuit-riding Baptist preacher, supposedly the fourth generation to preach the faith.Mary Ann, according to family lore, was part Indian.Son William Harvey DAVIS moved to Texas, also a preacher.
In the 1850 Census, poss. candidates for the parents of R.W. DAVIS are Willey and Timey A. DAVIS; likely candidates for the parents of Mary Ann BURDESHAW are Daniel and Rebecca BURDESHAW.Would like cites to any documents confirming that these were their parents; also information about their more distant ancestors and siblings.R.W.'s father must have been a minister, and his mother was named Permilla according to 1880 Census; thus there is reason to doubt Willey (listed as "farmer") and Timey A. were his parents.
Please contact me if you know anything about these DAVIS and BURDESHAW family lines.I'd particularly like to know the cites to any primary sources confirming their ancestry (deeds etc.) so I can order copies. Many thanks for any information you can provide.
