I don't know anything about Henry Nobles but yes, I've seen him on the 1840 Dale CO census, along with a Joseph and a John Nobles. If memory serves correctly, Henry's listing was several pages apart from Joseph and John, who lived next door to each other.Someone on this board seemed to think your Henry Nobles line was linked to the one in Orangeburg, SC.
I believe my James Nobles (born before 1775 and died 1835 and father of Lewis M. Nobles and his 11 siblings) is the one seen on Laurens CO SC 1820 census.I don't know where they were in 1830 but he and his wife were dead by 1835.Lewis and his remaining siblings migrated to Henry CO AL sometime prior to 1840.
Another curious finding:there is a Jane Nobles, widow and pensioner (1792-1879), who moved with them as well.I have not been able to figure out who Jane was married to.My best guess is that she is Lewis's aunt.Since both James and his wife Martha Harris Nobles died in 1835, Jane could not be a second wife of James. As far as I know, Jane does not appear to have had any children, but she raised Lewis's younger sibs after their parents died.
I haven't a clue who James Nobles was related to, although there are a couple other Nobles listed in Laurens CO in 1820.I haven't uncovered any records as of yet.
My only theory is that James "could be" a son of Lewis Sanders Nobles of Edgefield SC.Lewis did have a son named James and a couple other older sons that somehow disappeared into the incomplete and missing early GA censuses.
Best of luck, maybe someday we'll sort it out.
