Thank you so much for your note, and I have tried to find a Hall connection believing that it might be a clue for me, also. The only Hall connection that I have found was to a Meredith Hall whose will was filed 15 July 1856 in Benton/Calhoun County, Alabama.John Hollingsworth consented to be an administrator.Meredith Hall's wife was Obedience A. Hall. The children were listed:William Messer Hall, Jabers Wilson Hall, Elizabeth Whittendon Hall, James Washington Hall, Marlin Benton Hall, Almond Diolikin Hall, Aralina Sanders Wade, Martha Martin Griffeth, John Leonard Hall, Daniel Perkins Hall, Sarah Jane Hall, and Alexander Reubin Hall. Witnesses were Thomas V. White and Elias Read.
I also have Thomas Hall dated 14 Nov 1872 Benton/Calhoun County, Alabama. He died 31 Dec 1870 intestate. Widow was Lucinda Hall.Heirs and distributees listed: Lucinda Hall, Marry Hall (Etowah Co), Sam Hall (Etowah Co), John B. Hall (Etowah Co) Nieces and nephews: Mahala Hall, Merry Hall (brother of Thomas), John Hall (son of Sam Hall), Sam Hall (son of Sam Hall, deceased), Merry Hall, Jr. (all of Etowah Co). Now, listed are brothers and sisters of Thomas Hall were Samuel Hall who died in Floyed Co., GA who had sons: John and Samuel; Merry Hall (Etowah Co); Susan Payne wife of Aaron Payne who died in SC and left no children; Jane Mitchem wife of James who died in Cherokee Co, AL and left no children; Frances Mitchem wife of Frank deceased and left 2 sons: James and Samuel - James was killed in the war and Samuel went to Mississippi and died in 1870-71 (neither left children); Margarett Malden wife of Frank is dead and left children: Frank, Allen, Sam Malden - Frank and Allen dead and Samuel (its unknown where he went); Humphrey Hall whose dead and left children: Mahaly, Merry, Humphrey-went to Texas.
The second family is confusing, but the first family is filled with those middle names which might lead to something if there is a connection. These are from Old Records of Estates & Administrations, Benton (Calhoun) County, Alabama, Volume III, extracted and compiled by Catherine Cleek Mann and typed and indexed by Josephine Rossiter Woolf / published by Northeast Alabama Gen. Soc., Inc.
I'll keep your note and hopefully one of us will find those road blocks opened...good luck...Beth
