Is there anyone in the Birmingham area who does research at the Jefferson County Courthouse?I recently called them asking if they have information on deaths that occurred there between 1900 (when the person was on the 1900 census) and 1910.They said their death records there go back to the middle or late 1800s but they are in books.I was told by a very courtous young lady that a person has to come in themselves to search for the death in the books or had to get someone to come in the courthouse to check..they do not take requests by mail even if money was sent.I was looking for record of Levi Milner who died there in Jefferson County about 1901 or so (he was on the 1900 census there but died before the 1910 census.) His name might also be found as Lee Milner. He was 77 years old on the 1900 census. Since I am an amputee in a wheelchair it is almost impossible that I can get there myself. Does anyone have any suggestions?Any helpful suggestions appreciated.Bobbie Cardin in Louisiana.
