The Lawrence County Historical Commission (LCHC), under the auspices of Board Chairman "Bob" Ellis and President Flint Gillespie, is proud to announce that 23 historical markers have been received and are being erected at various points in the county.This mammoth undertaking, a 2 year project of Butch Walker (local historian and curator of the Oakville Indian Mounds Museum) and the Historic Sites Committee of the LCHC, makes Lawrence County one of the very few AL counties to mark locally some of its history.Thanks are due to all who showed an interest and contributed comments, historical data, and other feedback in this forum.Following is a list of the markers' titles:
