According to the SS Death Index she died Feb.1,1978. I would suggest you look in the newspaper microfilm (opelika-Auburn News) for an obituary, or, you could contact one of the funeral homes to see if they have a record. We did not have that many funeral homes back then. Fredericks Funeral Home and Ward's Funeral Home are the only two I think that were in business back then.
I would contact the Lewis Cooper Library in Opelika to get information about microfilm, but first, I would contact Fredericks FH (if your Great Aunt was white) because that could save you some money since ordering microfilm can be expensive. Fredericks has been in business since the early 1900's and they might have a record. 334-745-4667. 200 South 6th StreetOpelika, AL 36801 (334) 705-5380
