I am trying to finish up the book on the ancestors and descendants of Bartlett Eaves and have run into a brick wall on the children of Graves Perry Eaves, born about 1817/1819 in Georgia, the son of Graves and Margaret (Suttle) Eaves. He married ELIZABETH (---), probably around 1839, probably in Alabama.
I think I have found him on the 1840 Perry County, Ala., census.
I can't find him in 1850.
I found him in the 1860 Perry County census and the 1870 and 1880 Marengo County, Ala. censuses.
The census records I have found identify four children for him:
i. CORNELIA EAVES – Born about 1842. I have found no marriage record for her on any record at all after the 1870 census, when she was still single.
ii. G.E. EAVES - Born about 1844. A bond for the marriage of G.E. Eaves and MRS. M.J. FLUKER was issued 23 Feb. 1881 in Marengo County, Ala.; bondsmen were G.E. Eaves and C.B. Cleveland. The marriage took place 24 Feb. 1881. He was not enumerated in his parents’ household in 1860 or 1870 and I have not been able to find him alone or in another household during those censuses. In 1880, at age 36, he was enumerated in his parents’ household in the Marengo County, Ala., census. I have not located him in any records past his marriage in 1881.
iii. JAMES EAVES - Born about 1848 in Alabama. He was recorded in his parents household in the 1870 Marengo County, Ala., census. Then he disappeared.
iv. MARY ELGIN EAVES was born about 1860/62 in Alabama. She married JOHN I.P. CAMP 9 Dec. 1885 at McKinley, Marengo County, Ala. Then they both disappear.
