Hi Cynthia, I just got back from finding your Pines Cemetery. It is actually called the Russell Cemetery (established 1827) and is across the road from the Pines Southern Missionary Baptist Church. They are located on Pines Church Road, which runs off of Pines Road.On a map, find Alabama Highway 67 coming out of Decatur.Go south on 67 to the Florette Community and just south of Florette (less than a half mile) is Pines Road.If you decide on a field trip and will let me know ahead of time, I'll try to meet you and take you to it.There are signs pointing the way to the church. This is a very old church and cemetery.
Here is who I found in the cemetery today:
Jane Benson, b. 1/10/1829, d. 2/19/1863.Only Benson I found, many graves around hers marked only with fieldstones.
Simon L Guyer, b. 9/12/1854, d. 5/17/1901 Mildred A. Guyer, b. 4/12/1860, d. 12/11/1919
John M. Guyer, b. 1/1898, d. 8/1981 Jessie Guyer, b. 2/25/1901. d. 11/11/1960
If you are related to the Russells, this place will be a gold mine for you also.Rick
