What this revealed to me is the possibility that William and Ruth were estranged in 1850. I draw this conclusion on the basis that Ruth was head of the household which consisted only of her youngest children. Her older sons, Almarine and Eli Dennis resided nearby. I have no direct evidence that Ruth visited Granville, her son, and his family on the other side of Morgan County, nor do I have any direct information that William visited his mother. In 1850, William, was found in the household of Granville, where it appears remained until his death. Why the remainder of the family stood with Ruth, Granville had his father in his growing household. No stories are told regarding this arrangement, but, a possible solution is that Ruth and William remained estranged until William passed away in the early 1860s.
