I just wanted to let you know that I am looking into this.
So far, the only close match that I have been able to find to your Alice M. is listed in the 1880 Pickens Co. census as living with the family of William Dawkins. However, she is listed as E.A. Lowe. She is the step-daughter of Mr. Dawkins, who is married to a woman named Rose Ann. E.A. Lowe was born in S.C. and does not appear to be related to the other lines of Lowes living in Pickens Co. at that time.
The two other white Lowe lines were from N.C. and Ga. It is assumed that the black Lowe lines were slaves of the white Lowe lines, probably from the Ga. line. At any rate, they would have been from Ga., N.C., or Ala., too. Not S.C.
I'm still looking, though. I have two more lines to look at for you. [Children of W.W. "Whit" Lowe and of Albert O. Lowe. Both appear to have been sons of Alexander Lowe, who moved to Pickens Co. from Lincoln Co., N.C. abt. 1839.]
