Hi, Tonya. There are a lot of similarities in our ancestry to your inqury, and they may click with you:
My great grandfather, Jesse (Dillard?) Sparks, lived in Laurens County, SC, with his first wife and children, one of whom was John Franklin Dillard Sparks.John Franklin and his brother, James Wesley Sparks, ran away from home and enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1863 as teenagers. After the war's end, they lived in Noxubee County, Mississippi, and Pickens County, Alabama.John Franklin was my grandfather.Jesse may have had children by his second marriage and may have named a son "John."Jesse left SC, we learned, in about 1870 for Tennessee, but no further trace yet found. James had many children in MS.Lots more if it fits your family.
