In 1850 HA Park is on thePickens Co Federal Census P118Roll 13 born in SC age 30, with wife Margaret (McDaniel) age 30 born SC and children John P 6, born in AL, ( so it says on each census but his CW papers say SC), Elizabeth Ann 4, Daniel R. 4Hiram G1.This is one of those pages that can hardly be read, so I cannot read name of family before his, but family after his is Moses Cameron.
We cannot find when he left SC or where else he might have lived before he is found in Pickens Co.If John, 6, was indeed born in Al. they may have been here as early as 1843-4.
By 1860 census, HA Park ( spelled Parks on this census) is on census in Romulus Beat, Tuscaloosa Co., neighbors John Robertson,S.D. Cameron, C.B. Gregory (MD?)This Cameron looks like a son of the Moses Cameron in 1850 census. There will later be a land transaction with an Alexander Cameron. ( IS HE IN A NEW LOCATION, OR WAS THEIR A BOUNDRY CHANGE WHICH LEAVES HIM IN SAME SPOT, BUT DIFFERENT COUNTY??)In HA's family, Elizabeth Ann has died during the preceeding decade and Mary Jane, Mack Alexander and Andrew Press have been born.
Back to Pickens county.I can only find bits and pieces of others who might be related to our HA Park in Pickens Co.I finda Lt. Francis Park 1920-1944 buried in Oak Grove Pres. Cem. and reference other place to a Mrs. J.V. Park, Sr., daughter of Mrs. John A, Somerville.Francis is buried near Somerville family.I find many Somerville's in later censuses, but most are African American.
I find an Andrew Park, African American
I find a James Park and a Joel Park in registered voters, Yorkville pct 1849.( Should this be Joel Parker?I find no trace of a Joel Park anywhere in AL.)
I find a James Park in a cemetery b 1892 d 1953
There is a Park Williams son of George and Elizabeth Watts Williams Any connection between the families?
At Mt. Olivet Pres. church in 1844 a child, Elizabeth Ann Park , d/o Thomas and Aliza Falls is baptised. Is this her given name and Falls is her surname? It is not thechild of HA Park.
One of the children, Hiram Glass Park, was evidently named for a Methodist preacher who came from TN about 1845--Hiram Michael Glass. This suggests that the family were Methodist at this early time, and the family continued in this denomination through later generations.
HA's wife Margaret C."Peggy" McDaniel is also from unknown parentage.Could she have been a daughter ofDaniel McDaniel ( her mother would have birthed her when only 15 if so, according to census record of this McDaniel in Pickens Co.)There was another MCDaniel family also, but I do not have that notation before me.One of the Park children was named Robert Daniel Park ( some list as Daniel Robert.)He was evidently called Daniel.
If anyone can contribute any information concerning ancestry of either HA or Peggy, please let me hear.
HA Park is my husband's 2nd great grandfather. The family is well documented from HAdown to this day.
