I am looking for information on Thomas Pate who was born 1760-70 SC.
Following is a chronological listing of events presumably related to him:
-- Per Tom Pate, in 1785, a John Pate (b.c. 1740 d. 1801) received a grant of land in Wilkes County, Georgia. He had a son named Thomas B. b.c. 1755. John died in 1801 in Jackson County Georgia, and Thomas was his only son. -- Thomas Pate married Peggy Moseley on October 30, 1811, Jasper County, Georgia. (second or third marriage?) -- 1830 census, Tuscaloosa, Alabama: Thomas Pate 60-70 years, a male 15-20, two females 40-50 and 15-20. -- October 18, 1834 / March 20, 1837: William and Thomas Pate, as tenants in common, bought land patents for 160 acres in Tuscaloosa. -- March 9, 1836: Thomas bought 40 acres in Pickens County. -- September 20, 1839: Thomas bought 40 acres in Pickens County, with Newell Pate and Gilbert G. Pate also buying land on the same date. -- 1840 census, Pickens County: Thomas 70-80 years, females 1-5 and 10-20. -- not on 1850 census.
This Thomas is definitely not the Thomas who was a son of Daniel Pate who died in NC in 1791. Daniel mentions his minor son Thomas in his will. He also seems unlikely to have been the Thomas Pate who paid only a poll (owning no land) in 1801-02 in Lincoln County, Georgia.
The information I am seeking is: - where was he from 1760-70 to c. 1810? - who were his parents? - who were his siblings? - who were his children? - did he leave a will? - are there any probate records? - where and when did he die?
I have seen mention of a will by John Pate in 1801, Jackson County, Georgia, naming a Thomas as his son. Does anyone know if this will is available on the Internet?
I would particularly like to hear from any of his descendants.
