I have a little info on some of the NEWBERRYs in your cemetery transcription.
V. M. Newberry [This would be Virgil, son of Ansel NEWBERRY and Susan UNKNOWN Newberry] April 13, 1868 May 23, 1953
Ophelia McLemore[Ophelia McLEMORE Newberry] Wife of V. M. Newberry[Virgil M. NEWBERRY] Oct. 4, 1872 Jan. 14, 1958
There was also an Ophelia NEWBERRY, daughter of Ansel and Susan Newberry. Just to confuse things, she married James McLemore Jr.! I have information that says this Ophelia NEWBERRY McLemore and James McLEMORE Jr are buried at Ladonia Baptist Cemetery in Phenix City, Russell County, Alabama.
I have yet to connect these NEWBERRYs to my line of NEWBERRYs in Pike County, Alabama (1840-1900's). I am trying to make connections with the NEWBERRYs in Clay County, Alabama and this has led me to believing that the Clay County and Russell County NEWBERRYs are related.
I believe that Ansel NEWBERRY is probably a brother to Francis Marion NEWBERRY who lived in Clay County, Alabama in the 1880's, then most of Marion's family moved to around Cass County, Texas around 1885-87. I believe that this Ansel and Francis Marion NEWBERRY, as well as some other family members, probably served in the CSA in the 31st Georgia Infantry (Muscogee County Men) in Gordon's Division of the Army of the Northern Virginia.
Thanks for your hard work and for making this post! Steven Earl Newberry, Tallapoosa County Alabama
