Hi, Does anyone have access to an index for the 1900 Alabama census for Russell County? If so, could you give me page numbers for any Wellborn/Wellborne/Welborn/Wilburn/other variation if you see it? I have access to the images from Ancestry.com so I can look up the pages, but they don't have an index for 1900 yet.
I tried looking through the images for Hatchechubbee, but didn't see the family that I am looking for (John Wellborn, wife Sally, child Ella/Estelle, abt age 10). It is possible they have moved to Georgia by 1900, but Ella's obit says she was a native of Hatchechubbee. She was married and in Tampa by 1908. Her grandson thinks he remembers that she might have been married in Georgia, but isn't sure. Her death certificate says her parents were John W. Wellborn and Sally Harpe, but until I can make the link to a census for 1900 to identify them, I don't have any clue as to their ages, other siblings, etc. It's a case of her deciding not to have anything else to do with her family and never talking about them with her children or grandchildren--very frustrating for genealogy!
