Don't have Hugh's birth place but do have the following:
Information from "History of Livingston, Alabama," by Dr. R. D. Spratt
Mr. Lide is said to have been a Confederate soldier in the Williams Company from Gainesville.
Some seven miles north (of Livingston), near Jones Creek Church, was a large old house that was once the home of Wiliam Godrey. This place was afterward owned by Hugh S. Lide, who married a daughter of Jerry H. Brown. The old house was demolished many years ago.
Mr. H. S. Lide bought a place and lived there. His widow married Dr. Forster and built a new house in town (in Livingston) on the Southeast corner of West Main and Spring Streets.
