I am looking for Information on Benjamin Cage who died by November 1791 in Charlotte County, VA and info on his children, most specially Jesse Cage who was born in Charlotte County, VA and married Ann Davis on either either August 23, 1814 (per some researcher reports I have) or August 23, 1804 (ancestry marriage index, which I think may be mistranscribed on the year).
The Jesse Cage (son of Ben) and Benjamin Cage (father) families appears to have been in Charlotte County, VA at least from ca 1758 - 1815 (with some of Ben's children still be in Charlotte County, VA after 1815.
I know there were court house fires etc and loss of some records, but wonder where is the best place to find (if not online) an address to write for copies of these older records.
I would like to get copy of Benjamin Cage's estate records and Will probate records ca November 1791. I would like to get certified copy of Jesse Cage and Ann Davis marriage records from either August 23, 1814 (or August 23, 1804).
Copy of the 1782 Census for Benjamin Cage.
I believe that Benjamin Cage's children were:
Margaret Cage of Charlotte, VA who marrked Edmund Turner on December 13, 1788
Fielder (or Fielding) Cage of Charlotte, VA who married Susannah Jones on April 15, 1795
John Cage of Charlotte County, VA who married Peggy Barnes on January 6, 1803
Jesse Cage of Charlotte County, VA who married Ann Davis on either August 23, 1814 or August 23, 1804
Elizabeth Cage of Charlotte County, VA who married John Barnes on January 2, 1796
(there may be others, but believe the above are children of Benjamin Cage)
I believe that this CAGE family was intertwined in marriages with the BARNES and STOWE families.
Where can I find a good site to research for these Charlotte County, Virginia records? And the below records on JESSE CAGE (mentioned above) WHO DIED IN SUMTER COUNTY, AL in 1845.
JESSE CAGE's Will filed on MAY 26, 1845 and probated on OCTOBER 13, 1845 and supposedly can be found in WILL BOOK 1 (I do not have the page #)DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I MIGHT FIND or ORDER A COPY OF THIS WILL FROM SUMTER COUNTY, ALABAMA and any other family records that might exist on him (eg, where he is buried, etc.) or any mention of his wife Ann Davis-CAGE whom may have died in Alabama also.
