I am searching for the grave site of John Garrison, the son of Stephen. He may be near the Natural Bridge area. According to my records this John died 1772 and was 80 years old, the oldest person in Winston county at that time.
Some say that John L. Garrison was the son of Stephen, but in my search, I have not found any proof that John L. Garrison was a son of Stephen. This confusion needs to be repaired and documented so others will have good records. If John L. Garrison was a son of Stephen, we need solid proof.
I also host a family member web site, "Descendants of Stephen Garrison". This site also ties with the Descendants of Mathew Payne Jr., buried next to Stephen near their old home place. We now have about 50 famlies that have ties to Stephen and Matthew.
At one time, this cemetery was on the old Payne Road in Winston County. It is 9.5 miles north-west of Double Springs. This spot has been change to Garrison/Payne Cemetery. There are five graves, Stephen, Matthew and his wife, a son of Matthew, and one small grave unknown.
