I would greatly appreciate any help you can give! My GGGrandmother, Amanda Elizabeth Suggs (b. 1853), gave testimony before the Choctaw Chickasaw Citizenship Court as an intermarried white in 1900. In that testimony, she stated that the names of her deceased parents were George and Martha Jane Suggs. I found land records on Ancestry.com for George Suggs. It appears that there were two George Suggs living in Carroll County at its beginning. My George Suggs used his middle initial in addition, "B.", which I believe stands for "Brown".Were these two men father and son? Who are George B. Suggs' parents? What was the maiden name of Martha Jane Suggs?(As often happens, there was another George Suggs about the same age living in Tennessee at that time, and married to a Martha Jane Reynolds.) Here are the historic records I have for Amanda Elizabeth Suggs:
1860 Census, Carrollton, Carroll County, Arkansas 1870 Census, Carrollton, Carroll County, Arkansas 1875 Texas Marriage Collection, marriage to George W. Cooper ***George W. Cooper and Amanda had two daughters, Katie and Retta. 1880 Precinct 4, Red River County, Texas ***George W. Cooper died, then Amanda married Tom Lynch. They had a son named Dawson Luther "Doss" Lynch (my line) somewhere in Texas in 1886. They lived in Fannin County, Texas in 1888 at the birth of another son, John Henry Lynch. In 1990 they had a daughter named Katie Lynch, born in Texas and in 1894 they had Mary Ellen "Dink" Lynch, also born in Texas. They may have had other children, but I don't know of them. Then, Tom Lynch died. 1900 Bokchito, Bryan County, Indian Territory ***Amanda married Daniel Payton, Choctaw, and gave testimony to be enrolled as intermarried white on Dawes Roll.Amanda was Daniel Payton's tenth wife.He divorced her in 1905, just after she was given her land allotment.I found the transcipts on www.footnote.com.
If you know anything about these relatives of mine, I would surely appreciate your help.
