Heirs of my 4th great-grandfather Israel Huse received a 160-acre land grant for his service in the War of 1812. It's identified as follows: Faulkner Co, S.33 Twp 8N Range 11W 1832/01/11. They lived in upstate NY and, as far as I can determine, none of them actually settled on the land.
My research points to a location in present-day Conway County, possibly in or near Benton. Can anybody confirm that for me (i.e., what is present-day location of Twp 8N Faulkner Co)? My assumption is based on finding of a John Brown and John Spradlin living next to each other in 1860 census for Benton Twp. These 2 men purchased land on this same tract in 1859.
I have a copy of the original land grant, but what I'm looking for is a deed of sale - hoping it will identify who were the "heirs" of Israel Huse (spelled Isreal Hues in the original grant).
Does the courthouse staff in Conway Co accept research requests?
