Hello, I work with the Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society in Huntsville, Arkansas.I checked the book "History of Hindsville, Arkansas: The Town, The Area and The People", and I found a few listings in it for Samuel Grover Phillips.
The first two listings are taken from old promissory notes of the area and read as follows:
"Twelve months after date we or either of us promise to pay to James Phillips as the executor of the Estate of W. G. Phillips, deceased, or his order the sum of one hundred fourteen Dollars and five cents for value received at ten percent interest from date until paid.Witness our hands and seals this 10th day of September AD 1828.G. W. Phillips (seal)S. G. Phillips (seal)"
"$11.00One day after date I promise to pay S. C. Adler, eleven dollars at Ten percent interest for value rec'd of him.Witness my hand and seal this 6th day of April 1859.Samuel G. Phillips (seal)"
The other mention of Samuel G. Phillips is a listing in the enumeration of the Hindsville Cemetery which reads:
"The following list of names is from Mark Strube, and he believes these are buried at Hindsville Cemetery, even though they do not have tombstones:
Samuel G. Phillips, 24 February 1830 - 10 March 1895 (son of David and Kittie Sanders Philips)
Lela Elizabeth Phillips, 9 June 1830 - died ca 1901 (daughter of John C. and Mary J. Drake Johnson)
I know that the Mark Strube mentioned above, is actively researching this family. If you would like his address so that you can contact him, send me an e-mail at my private mail address firstname.lastname@example.org.I will send you Mark's contact information.
