Hi, I work with the Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society and we have very limited information about Samuel's Mountain Cemetery also known as Sandstone Mountain Cemetery.
It was read back in the 1970's by Mickey Vaughan and printed in a cemetery book. This is what she says about the cemetery:
"This cemetery has been unkept for many years. There are hundreds of large field rocks scattered throughout the cemetery making it impossible to even estimate the number of graves here.Because it is practically inaccessible except by walking, the cemetery ceased to be used after the Clifty Cemetery was opened."
She lists 15 graves with names on them: Jhon T. Oliver Mary J. Tucker Michales S. Wisdom Susan Ellen Wallen Lafette Anderson Robert B. Beckett Jhon F. French Wm. & M. Tucker Nancy Kathrine Wallen Elender Wallen John R. Wallen Jhon Wallen Wes Anderson J. H. Anderson Female Anderson, sister to J. H. Anderson Also a cousin of J. H. Anderson
It appears from the map that appears in Mickey's Cemetery book, that this cemetery is 3-4 miles north of Clifty on a county road.As I understand it, it is located in a very remote location and I'm not certain of who could tell you how to get it to.
