My James Smith is listed on the 1850 Mississippi County Census with wife Locky and 6 SMITH children and 2 RUSSELL children:
1850 Arkansas, Mississippi Co., 57/57 =========== SMITH, Jas, 45 M Farmer KY SMITH, Locky, 35 FTN SMITH, Mary, 18 FTN SMITH, James J/I 16MTN SMITH, Elizabeth, 14 FTN RUSSELL, Van Buren 17 MAL RUSSELL, Elizabeth E., 11 F AL SMITH, George W. 11 MAL SMITH, Francis M., 7 MAR SMITH, Sarah L., 1 FAR
It looks like from this census that both James and Locky were married before. Looks like Mary, James, Elizabeth and George were James’s children from his first marriage, And Locky was married to a Russell and her children are Van Buren and Elizabeth Russell.
It’s also possible that the Russell children are not Locky’s and she is in fact the mother of all the Smith children.
In 1860 this family has moved to Madison County:
1860 Arkansas, Madison Co., Bowen Twp., PO War Eagle, =========== SMITH, Jas56MKY SMITH, Locky46 F TN SMITH, George W. 22 m TN SMITH, Frances M. 17 mAR SMITH, Sarah L12 F AR SMITH, Deel? 9 FAR SMITH, Martha J. 7 F AR
James Smith died in 1862.I would assume that he is buried in Madison County. Need to know where? Locky (and youngest dau. Mary) is living with her daughter Sarah Keck on the 1870 census Arkansas, Madison Co., Valley Twp., (The Keck family later moved to Logan County) I don’t know when or where Locky Smith is buried. Likely Madison County.
I have information on : George Washington Smith married Elizabeth Creech Sariah Lucinda Smith, she married Charles Christopher Keck (they are my 2nd great-grandparents) Cordelia 'Deila' Smith married Lewis A. McAdoo. (my 2nd great-grandUncle)
What happened to Mary, James, Elizabeth, Frances, Martha and the 2 Russell children?
