Well, her daughter Myrtle Rhoda had always said that she was named after her mother, told so by her step-mother. So we're going by word of mouth there, really, I guess, as any documents and pictures for the Watkins family were essentially lost in a family trunk that no one claimed following James Rodney Watkins' death (probably because James had deserted his family). What is making me think it's perhaps maybe untrue is that Rodden's daughter Rhoda is estimated to have been born around the same time, and I came across two family trees for Rodden in which he is given the nickname of Rodney... which is Elias' and Myrtle/Rhoda's son's middle name, which I've never been able to tie to anyone.
