I am looking for anyone studying the Hughes of Saint Francis County, Arkansas. My wife's grandparents on her mother's side lived near Round Pond. They are buried in the Wylds Family Cemetery off State Highway 334.Thanks for Michelle Metzger's posting of this cemetery. Fed Pettus Hughes married Minnie May Winford. They were dirt poor white sharecroppers wiped out by the depression. The family story is that Minnie May Winford's parents died and Fed Pettus Hughes' parents took Minnie and her siblings in to raise. Here are the Hughes listed by Michelle in Wylds Cemetery: HUGHES, Mrs. AnnieSept. 1, 1888 – April 12, 1946 (KB) HUGHES, F PApril 4, 1882 – Nov 18, 1939 (KB) HUGHES, Leland O.June 3, 1879 – March 22, 1936 (KB) HUGHES, NoraAug 10, 1914 – June 4, 1916(KB) HUGHES, Thomas Miers Sr.1850-1901 (1906?) There are lots of unmarked graves.Minnie May Winford Hughes is probably buried there. We don't know who Annie is.Would love to think Thomas Meirs Hughes is F.P. Hughes father. No clue at this time.Nora was their first born.Woodrow was their second born.Woodrow suffered a chest wound in WWII Battle of the Bulge and never married.Other children: Bruce (never married), Ann, George, Ruby, and Pearl.ANY information of any kind is welcomed!!So far the search has only found the cemetery.I am sure there are possibly several connections in this cemetery, but the history is almost lost.
