Are there any descendants residing in Searcy Co. from the Jesse Guinn & Charlotte Shipman Guinn family? If so, I would really like to correspond with you.
Jesse Guinn/Guin was b abt 1808 in KY.His wife, Charlotte Shipman, was b abt 1816 TN.The family moved to AR in 1855 from TN.The 1860 Searcy Co., AR, Big Flat Township, census lists their children as follows: William b abt 1841 Jane b abt 1842 Aikana b abt 1846 Mary b abt 1848 James C. "Jim" b Dec 12, 1851 Henry Co., TN Malissa Adaline b abt 1853 (MY LINE) Parilee b abt 1856 Allen b abt 1860
I may have recorded the places of birth incorrectly because my notes indicate only the 1st child was born in Tn & the others in AR.I don't believe that's correct as they do not show up in AR until 1860 census. Also, their son Jim is quoted in the Turnbo manuscripts as being born in TN & the family moving to AR in 1855.He also states that Jesse died in Polk Co., MO & is buried near Bolivar, MO, and that Charlotte died near Big Flat. Was Jesse in the Civil War or does anyone know why he was in MO?
The 1860 Searcy Co. census also lists two other Guinn households:Christopher and his family and John and his family. The age would be right for them to be brothers to Jesse.???
Malissa Adaline Guinn married Samuel Lafayette Freeman, who died in AR.Malissa died in Sasakawa, OK.I do have info on some of their descendants and will gladly share that info.
